Welcome to the Art of the Flower of Battle
Welcome to the Art of the Flower of BattleSituated in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia. Clara Bellum offers the opportunity to connect with a 600 year old tradition of the Italian Longsword. The artistry of the Manuscript Fior di Battaglia captures the imagination and gives a glimpse into the vibrant world of 1407 Italy.
In our study we use old italian language from the manuscript to express' complex ideas and movements of the sword.
Combining martial spirit and focus of the sword, with an awareness of ones own breath while moving brings a sense of peace and physical harmony.

Clara Bellum
The Latin, Clara Bellum is a dicotomy. Clarity/Brightness/Illumination and Warfare.
Clarity and Peace through the Study of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) seems at first to be at odds with its self. However the application of deliberate movements, and focus of the Longsword in hand, bring about a balance and sense of purpose, calmness and thoughtfulness, self empowerment and confidence.
Through the application of study and interpretation of Fior di Battaglia it is my aim to continue to learn from Fiore dei Liberi, and in doing so help others along the swords path to a peaceful and healthy life.
